Follow our live blog below for all the latest news from the Premier League…

  • Deutschland for Dier?

According to German outlet BILD, Tottenham's Eric Dier could be set to follow in Harry Kane's footsteps.

Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel is said to be interested in signing a centre-back this January and Dier is a name in contention.

The Spurs defender has lost his place in the squad under Ange Postecoglou and is now set for an exit.

Chelsea's Trevor Chalobah is Bayern's top target but Dier is among the options and a move to Germany is on the cards.

  • Hojlund will come good

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has lept to the defence of new striker Rasmus Hojlund.

The Dane hasn't scored in the Premier League since signing for the club, netting all of his goals so far in Europe.

Following a couple of missed chances against Sheffield United, Ten Hag remained positive about Hojlund's scoring potential.

He said: "I am sure he will score goals.

"I’m confident, he’s gonna do that and Rashford too.

I think Rasmus is a player who’ll always be in scoring positions in our team."

  • Tonali latest

Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali could discover the length of his potential ban as early as today, talkSPORT understands.

His lawyers are meeting prosecutors in Italy amid an investigation into alleged illegal betting activity.

UEFA are hoping the matter is resolved before Newcastle host Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday.

  • Casemiro regrets Old Trafford switch

Reports in Spain claim that Casemiro is now regretting signing for Manchester United from Real Madrid last year.

The Brazilian joined United on a long-term deal in August 2022 but is already having doubts about his future.

He has struggled to get going so far this season and has come under some criticism, with this mentality possibly having an impact.

It could lead to a departure and a replacement may come in the form of Joao Neves, as the Benfica youngster is reportedly being eyed.

  • Klopp to hijack Man United move

Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Sporting Lisbon defender Gonzalo Inacio, according to the Mirror.

Inacio is a transfer target for Manchester United and they are reported to have already made an enquiry for the centre-back.

But now Jurgen Klopp is stepping up his interest in the Portugal international, sending staff to monitor him against Bosnia.

The Reds are planning to find long-term replacements for Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip, with Inacio identified as a possible signing.

They will have to compete with Man United though as the Premier League giants compete for his signature.

  • Martial's time at Old Trafford is up

In an exclusive column for talkSPORT.com, Mark Goldbridge explains how to fix Manchester United with the club no longer a top six side.

Does Anthony Martial have a future at Manchester United? This is a player I really like, and I believe it's a player that Ten Hag likes.

But at some point you have to acknowledge that last season was horrific - injury-wise.

So therefore, you have got to look to move that player on, because you can't rely on a player that is not fit, if they can't play, you can't work with them.

So I think that's Ten Hag's stance and I think that's my stance, if Anthony Martial could stay fit for 90 per cent of the season, then I think you would use him.

The big problem that Manchester United have got, and I see fans saying all the time, 'let's get rid of him in January'.

You see newspaper outlets saying, 'he's going to get kicked out in January', but the same thing applies, I don't think he goes anywhere.

He's on around £200,000-a-week, nobody is going to pay that, no-one is going to give us a transfer fee.

I think unfortunately, this is a business model that Manchester United have had in recent years, where you see Ander Herrera who is worth £25m, walking out the door for nothing at the end of his contract.

David de Gea, walking out the door, 32 years of age, £350,000-a-week, no-one would pay his wages, but he's still worth around £20m as a goalkeeper.

And I think the same thing will happen with Martial, they won't renew his contract and they'll get rid of him, and another player who actually has a value, will just move out the door because we pay him too much in wages.

So I think Martial ultimately will leave as I don't see anybody buying Martial.

I think Manchester United are just incapable of selling these players because they pay them too much money.

  • 'I'm not relying on the market'

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany is aiming to keep the focus on his current squad rather than potential January signings.

The Clarets have struggled back in the Premier League with more quality needed if they want to survive this season.

Kompany admitted the club are already looking at options for the next transfer window but that he remains focused on his players.

He said: "Always [we have an eye on the market].

"But it's a full-time operation in a different part of the club, 12 months of the year.

"My focus is on the players I am working with reaching the next level. I'm not relying on the market."

  • Phillips attracting interest

Kalvin Phillips could reportedly be the subject of interest from Juventus and Newcastle as a result of the betting scandal in Italy.

talkSPORT understands that Newcastle fear Sandro Tonali could face a lengthy suspension amid his alleged role in illegal betting.

Meanwhile, Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli has been banned for seven months by the Italian Football Federation due to a breach of rules.

As a result, The Telegraph report that both clubs could enter the January transfer market for a replacement, with Phillips an option.

  • 'Goalkeeping has been a massive struggle'

Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke believes the signing of goalkeeper Andre Onana has not paid off.

Speaking to Stocklytics, Yorke said: "They always say the grass is never greener on the other side.

"I told everybody that they should be careful what they wish for!

"Managers are there to make tough decisions and they have their own ideas on who they select in their team.

"Ten Hag made the decision to get rid of De Gea and bring in Onana.

"If you study Onana, and I'm sure Ten Hag did, you'll see there's a massive risk with the way he plays - especially in the English game."

He continued: "It's totally different, and you thought Onana would have known that by now.

"There are a lot of crosses and a lot of passes in and around the box and you need a goalkeeper who can handle those situations.

"Yes, you need a 'keeper who wants to play out from the back, and that's Onana's philosophy. It's high-risk, high reward.

"It's brilliant when it works, but when it doesn't, it looks like the manager has got his selection totally wrong.

"It's clear to see that the goalkeeping department has been a massive struggle for United.

"I was at the club when Sir Alex brought Massimo Taibi into the side, and he didn't quite work out. The manager did, however, realise that very quickly.

"I'm not sure if Ten Hag will do that, or if he's stubborn enough to back Onana. We don't know."

  • Reds don't want Osimhen

Liverpool are not actively pursuing a move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, talkSPORT understands.

Reports emerged that the Reds had joined Chelsea and Arsenal in the race to land the Nigerian as they plan for life after Mohamed Salah.

talkSPORT understands Napoli are keen to keep hold of their star forward and value him at well over £100million in order to stave away Premier League interest.

  • Secret contract extension

Chelsea have reportedly activated a secret clause in Ian Maatsen's contract to keep him out of Barcelona's clutches.

Maatsen returned to the Blues this summer after starring on loan at Burnley last year as the Clarets were promoted to the Premier League as Championship winners.

But the Dutchman has struggled to force his way into Mauricio Pochettino's thinking this term, playing just 83 minutes in the league this season.

The 21-year-old's contract situation had attracted interest from Barcelona with Maatsen's deal expiring next summer.

The Standard report however that Chelsea have now quietly activated a one-year extension until 2025 to keep hold of the talented starlet.

  • Move for Musiala?

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing former Chelsea youth star Jamal Musiala from Bayern Munich.

The 20-year-old signed for the Bundesliga champions in 2019 after spending around eight years at the Blues' academy.

Musiala has since scored 32 goals and provided a further 25 assists in 133 appearances for Bayern and is one of Europe's top prospects.

Despite such success in Germany, he could be in line for a return to English football, but not back at Chelsea.

BILD reporter Christian Falk says Liverpool are interested in a move for Musiala.

The attacking midfielder's agents have not been speaking to Bayern about extending his contract, which currently runs until 2026.

It could therefore pave the way for Liverpool to consider a move next summer when he has just two years remaining on his deal.

Musiala did not make any senior appearances for Chelsea but did feature for their academy side and has represented England at youth level too.

  • Say sorry Sancho

Jadon Sancho has been urged to apologise to Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, or risk his Old Trafford career being ended.

The two have been at loggerheads ever since Sancho bit back at Ten Hag's claims in a social media post that he was left out of the squad for the defeat to Arsenal due to his lack of performance in training.

For his actions, Sancho has since been exiled from the first-team, training with the Under-18 side and is understood to not even be allowed to eat with his teammates at Man United's training ground.

But talkSPORT understands an apology to Ten Hag would bring him back into the first team fold.

talkSPORT reported last month that forward Marcus Rashford was among Sancho's teammates telling him to swallow his pride and issue an apology to the boss.

And this appears to still be going on with the Guardian reporting that senior players are desperate for the £73m signing to say sorry.

  • Newcastle statement on Tonali

Newcastle United have confirmed Sandro Tonali is being investigated in relation to illegal betting activity.

“Newcastle United can confirm that Sandro Tonali is subject to investigation by the Italian Prosecutor’s Office and Italian Football Federation (FIGC) in relation to illegal betting activity.

“Sandro is fully engaging with the investigation and will continue to cooperate with all relevant authorities. He and his family will continue to receive the club’s full support.

“Due to this ongoing process, Sandro and Newcastle United are unable to offer further comment at this time.”

  • Paul to play for

Paul Merson has backed Newcastle star Sandro Tonali over his betting problem.

Former Arsenal star Merson has been open with his struggles with addiction and he has called for football chiefs to 'go easy on him'.

"Just want to wish Sandro Tonali all the best from this horrible addiction," Merson wrote on X.

"I hope FIFA and everyone else goes easy and to understand this is an illness and to stop throwing out big bans and to help people get help.

"I understand if someone is playing in a game and is betting on the other team than a ban should imposed but people need HELP.

"I have had people say to me, 'Have some will power', and I say next time you have the sh**s stop it with will power.

"By banning people it stops people asking for help. Please show some understanding."

  • Qatar could turn to United's rivals

Qatar’s failure to acquire Manchester United could open the door to ‘revenge’ investment in a Premier League rival.

It comes after Sheikh Jassim withdrew from the race to purchase full control of the Old Trafford club from the Glazers after a year-long saga.

INEOS owner and self-proclaimed Manchester United fan Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly close to acquiring 25 per cent stake in the Red Devils despite owning Ligue 1 club Nice.

But it appears that Sheikh Jassim has not given up hope of taking control of a Premier League club and has been tipped to table a bid for United’s bitter rivals Liverpool.

The Merseyside club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, admitted to being ‘open to offers’ for the club last November and have actively negotiated with investors.

Daily Mail journalist Mike Keegan suggested on the ‘It’s All Kicking Off’ podcast a bid for the Reds would not be beyond the realms of possibility.

"The Qataris set aside about $8 billion (£6.57 billion) for the United project,” said Keegan.

"That money is there and ready to go, burning a hole in their pockets, so what a story that would be [to buy Liverpool].

"From what I am led to believe, they [Qataris] are very, very disappointed and angered at how this has played out.

"What better way to respond than to get United's biggest rivals from down the road and throw all that money you were going to throw into Manchester United into making them pay for that decision not to sell to you."

  • Man United takeover update

Here's more on Sir Jim Rafcliffe's bid to enter the ownership group of Manchester United from talkSPORT correspondent Ben Jacobs:

"Manchester United's board meeting on Thursday was always planned. Those close to the process point out nothing was scheduled specifically to vote on Sir Jim Ratcliffe's proposal.

"Remains an agreement in principle over a 25 per cent stake, but still some negotiations on overall deal, including the sporting control element. Those close to INEOS refute any 'delay' since they claim there was never a fixed timescale on when things would be ready for board approval.

"Ratcliffe would like a deal done in time for the January window. And regardless of board approval, it's a six to eight week competition process if all legal and logistical requirements are considered.

"Sheikh Jassim's withdrawal remains 'categorical'. Several sources close to the group reiterate they have not left their final offer on the table.

"Those close to the process also stress no new offer was made prior to withdrawal, only further negotiations. The increase in pledged investment to $1.7billion was also not made in writing with some close to the process revealing the first time they heard that number was via the media.

"The pledged investment commitment [originally $1bn] was not factored into any decision-making. Sheikh Jassim wanted to specify it nonetheless to show his commitment, but some close to the process maintain this was nothing more than a PR exercise to inflate numbers.

"There was tension between Sheikh Jassim and Raine Group ever since Nine Two Foundation's original statement declaring they had bid. Two different narratives haven't helped in terms or relationships or clarity."

  • The way to Victor-y

Arsenal have been told to go for Victor Osimhen instead of strongly linked striker Ivan Toney in January if they are serious about challenging for the Premier League title this season.

Former Gunner William Gallas says the Napoli star would be a perfect signing for Mikel Arteta, who he insists needs a 20 goals a season striker.

"I don't think Arsenal will win the league this season, I think they're still missing something," Gallas told Lord Ping.

"Although they won against Man City, it looked like Arsenal still need a striker who can make a difference. They don't have that at the moment. Gabriel Jesus was playing on the right-hand side up front and he's doing well, but the Gunners need a striker who can be clinical.

"They're playing well, but they drew their previous two games before City and they can't afford to do that. It was only a five-point difference between them and City last season, and if more of those draws were victories, Arsenal would've won the league.

"I think Arsenal need one world-class striker, and at the moment, Toney is not a world-class striker, he is a good striker who has been doing well, but Arsenal need a striker like Erling Haaland.

"Osimhen is a different class of striker. He can do damage in the Premier League and I think he can be that striker for Arsenal. It's difficult to think of others who are that good! I think the lack of world-class strikers is a big problem for modern football. There used to be so many!

"I know Mikel Arteta is happy with his squad, but to win the Premier League you need someone who can score around 20 or 25 goals in a season. Manchester City have Haaland, and he broke the record for the most goals in a league season in 22/23. You need that type of striker if you want to win the league.

"If you don't have that, you need a pair of strikers scoring 20 goals each!"

  • Everton takeover in doubt

Debt-laded Everton's £550m takeover is in danger of falling through over doubts about how prospective new owners 777 Partners are financing the deal, talkSPORT understands.

The American-based company are believed to have missed a deadline set by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to provide up-to-date financial records.

A source familiar with the sale process told talkSPORT: "Without the correct financial information it is hard to work out where the money is coming from. I'd imagine that is the basis of the FCA issue."

Without approval from the FCA, 777 Partners, who have declined to comment, will not pass the Premier League's recently beefed-up owners and directors test.

It is a nightmare scenario for Everton who are already being investigated for FFP breaches that could lead to a potential points deduction and are in the process of building a new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock.

  • Manchester United sale update

Sir Jim Ratcliffe's proposed partial takeover of Manchester United is unlikely to be finalised for several weeks, talkSPORT understands.

United will hold a pre-arranged board meeting on Thursday, but it is not guaranteed that Ratcliffe's proposal to pay £1.3bn for a 25 per cent stake will be put to a vote.

Ratcliffe is seeking eventual overall control and is still in talks with the Raine banking group, who are handling the sale process on behalf of the Glazer family, over the overall make-up of the deal.

Once a full agreement has been reached and approved by United's 12-strong board of directors, including six members of the Glazer family, it is likely to take up to two months for Ractcliffe to pass the Premier League's owners and directors test.

  • Sandro Tonali latest

Newcastle fear 'gambling addict' Sandro Tonali will be given a lengthy suspension for his role in an Italian betting scandal, talkSPORT understands.

Sources in Italy claim Tonali has admitted to placing wagers on AC Milan to win while playing for the Serie A side.

Tonali's Italy teammate Nicolo Fagiolo has already been given a worldwide ban of seven months for breaching betting rules.

As it stands Tonali, whose agent had admitted he is fighting a gambling addiction, can still be selected by Newcastle for Saturday's game at Crystal Palace

  • Belle of the ball

Jude Bellingham hinted that he may never play in the Premier League during his career.

Bellingham told Channel 4: "I am getting a little better each time I play. It was a really good night for us, we all remember what happened a few years ago when they played us here. You always aim for progression. We are heading in the right direction and a very important win for us.

"I am loving football at the minute. My management at club and country are giving me freedom to play it how I see it.

"Since the last few months I have been really working on my timing getting into the box and as I am arriving I am arriving with a big hunger.

"With the big transfer the fact is I have to deliver, whether it is a goal or assist or a match-winning performance.

"This is the club I want to be at for the next 10 to 15 years of my life. I am loving it there. Carlo [Ancelotti] basically said this position is where he sees me."

  • Lindelof wants to stay

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has revealed that the extension clause in his contract is yet to be activated.

The Sweden international's current deal expires this summer, and rumours were swirling that United were set to offer him a new one.

Lindelof has now denied that news but admitted he does want to stay at the club past 2024.

"I have an option year and there is a deadline for it," he said.

"When exactly I don't know. But it feels quite likely that it will be activated."

He added: "Absolutely [I want to continue at United]. I enjoy myself very much.

"I am entering my seventh year at the club. I feel good and the family feels good. It's a club that I really like, and that I love to represent."

    "We will see."
