  • Sandro Tonali latest

Newcastle fear 'gambling addict' Sandro Tonali will be given a lengthy suspension for his role in an Italian betting scandal, talkSPORT understands.

Sources in Italy claim Tonali has admitted to placing wagers on AC Milan to win while playing for the Serie A side.

Tonali's Italy teammate Nicolo Fagiolo has already been given a worldwide ban of seven months for breaching betting rules.

As it stands Tonali, whose agent had admitted he is fighting a gambling addiction, can still be selected by Newcastle for Saturday's game at Crystal Palace.

  • Ibe on return to football

Former Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe says he feels 'lucky and grateful' to be given a second chance in football after signing for Ebbsfleet United.

The ex-Premier League ace, who also played and scored in the Europa League with the Merseyside giants, has dropped down to non-league football in a bid to revive his career.

Now 27, Ibe - who was a club-record £15million signing for Bournemouth only seven years ago - could be set to make his debut for the National League side tonight in their FA Cup replay with Slough.

“I feel like the time out was to humble myself and get my mind right,” said Ibe, who was tipped for a big future when he joined Liverpool at the age of 16.

“I was speaking to my missus on the way to the game on Saturday and I said I feel like a kid again, going to football, because it’s been a while since I’ve put on club attire and gone to a matchday.

“It feels new but it’s not new because I’ve done it in the Premier League, so it’s refreshing. Not everyone gets a second chance but I’m lucky and grateful.

“This could have never happened and I’d be waiting for another club.”

“I’ve missed playing a lot, especially just watching games and thinking ‘I could have done this’. It’s great just to even be on the training pitch, to be myself again.

“Getting back fit and watching players train, I was thinking I missed so much of football and I really wanted to get in but I’ve just had to have patience and get myself fit mentally and physically, in the gym, and get up to standard. I’ve waited a long time and I feel ready.”

  • Silva eyes Brazil return

Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has not ruled out a potential return to Brazilian side Fluminense next summer.

Silva started his career at the club and may head back as he nears the end of his playing days.

The 39-year-old's Blues deal expires at the end of the season, with a free move back home then a huge possibility.

He told TNT Sports: “This is a long-standing relationship, right? But I’d rather keep quiet now.

“I have a family, I have children. So we have to think about that too. It’s about seeing where to finish off this beautiful career."

  • Curtains for Kalvin?

Kalvin Phillips could be set to leave Manchester City this January.

Newcastle are preparing a move for the midfielder should he decide to move on, according to The Northern Echo.

Eddie Howe wants to improve his side in defensive midfield and the England international could be brought in.

Phillips continues to barely feature for Man City, with a move away needed if he wants to find first-team football.

  • Raya x Ramsdale

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has opened up on his relationship with Aaron Ramsdale after taking his No.1 spot.

The Spaniard arrived at the Gunners in the summer and has since started ahead of Ramsdale despite manager Mikel Arteta saying he will be rotating 'keepers.

Speaking to The Athletic, Raya said: “I’m going to fight for it [the No.1 spot].

"Arteta gives me the confidence to be there, that he wanted to have two top players in each position, and it was up to me to find the time and fight to get the minutes.

"I don’t want to think beyond that. If there are rotations, as there are in any position, I’m going to help on and off the pitch.”

He continued: “The relationship [with Ramsdale]? It’s very good.

“At the end of the day, we are mates, which is the important thing. We have a very healthy relationship. There are no problems.

“We push each other every day in training: when he’s a little bit down, I push him, and when I’m a little bit down.

"We train three goalkeepers, four at the most, for hours a week, and you need that kind of relationship because otherwise, the training is not going to go well."

  • No luck for Lavia

Romeo Lavia has reportedly suffered an injury setback as he looks to get his Chelsea career off the ground.

The £58million summer signing suffered an ankle injury in training in September with hopes that he could return to action after the October international break.

However, the youngster now looks set to be out under late November at the earliest, with the Blues expecting him out until December.

You can read more on Lavia's setback below...

  • Staff in shock

Manchester United staff were reportedly left stunned by Sheikh Jassim's decision to step away from a takeover of the club.

The Sun report that staff at the club had been preparing for a full takeover by the Qatari.

They were told to not take annual leave in October to help push the takeover through.

Now, rather than a full takeover, Sir Jim Ratcliffe is likely to come on board by purchasing a 25 per cent stake in the club.

A board meeting will take place on Thursday to decide whether or not to accept Ratcliffe's bid.

  • New deal for Gallagher

talkSPORT understands that Conor Gallagher is open to signing a new deal at Stamford Bridge.

The England international was up for sale throughout the summer window, with the Blues looking for £50million.

However, he has established himself as a big player for Mauricio Pochettino.

He has even worn the captain's armband and talks are now set to open.

  • Maguire lifeline

AC Milan are set to offer Harry Maguire an escape route from Manchester United, talkSPORT sources understand.

The England international rejected a move to West Ham to try and relaunch his career at Old Trafford.

It hasn't quite worked out like that, and he could follow in the footsteps of Chris Smalling by moving to Italy and enjoying great success.

West Ham are still keen on the defender, but the Serie A giants are known admirers of Maguire.

  • Marshalled out

Manchester United are ready to cut their losses on Anthony Martial when the transfer window reopens in January.

United are actively looking for ways to offload the injury-plagued French striker, whose only goal this season was in the EFL Cup victory at home to Crystal Palace.

Martial is one of United’s highest earners and his contract is due to expire at the end of the season, so the Red Devils are willing to accept a minimal fee.

He joined United from Monaco in 2015 in a deal worth up to £57m, a world record for a teenager at the time, but in nine seasons at Old Trafford has failed to justify that hefty price tag.

talkSPORT understands Martial had interest from the Saudi Pro-League in the summer.

  • Ring the bell

Real Madrid have been so impressed by Jude Bellingham, they are now scouting his brother Jobe.

Jobe Bellingham was in action for England under-19s against Montenegro with reports that the Spanish giants were in attendance to see him in action.

According to El Nacional, Florentino Perez had asked chief scout, Juni Calafat, to report back on the Sunderland star following the success of his older brother.

Jude completed a move to the Santiago Bernabeu over the summer and has smashed expectations with an electric start to life in Spain.

Since arriving at the club, the former Borussia Dortmund star has scored 10 goals in 10 appearances for the club, making him one of the club's most successful ever new signings.

  • Shelved his plans

Jonjo Shelvey may have left Newcastle United in January this year for an ill-fated move to Nottingham Forest but his family still live on Tyneside.

The former Liverpool midfielder now plays for Cayku Rizespor on loan from the City Ground.

But he plans to return to Newcastle and live there for the rest of his life.

Shelvey spent seven years at St James' Park after joining the club from Swansea, and despite a few controversial moments, he became a big fans' favourite.

And he's admitted that he is now a Newcastle supporter.

Speaking to the Evening Chronicle, he said: "I just enjoy being a fan now and watching the games and knowing they are my mates and they are out there doing it for the city that my family lives in and the club that I support.

"We will probably end up staying there for the rest of our lives.

"That's what it does to you."

  • Rob still holding onto Arteta love

Rob Holding might have been sold by Arsenal this summer but he is still a firm believer in Mikel Arteta.

The defender joined Crystal Palace after seven years at the Emirates and has told talkSPORT: “With Arteta now they’ve got a hell of a manager who’s going to go on to do great things.

“His tactical awareness and how he sees the game is incredible.

"I didn’t realise how much I didn’t know about football until I’d been in a meeting with him a few times and you start to think that he sees football differently to how anyone has seen it in the world around me.

“The way they’ve started the season I’m sure they can carry on and go for another title charge.”

  • In for the Kyl

Louis Saha has insisted that it would be a great decision by Kylian Mbappe if he decides to join Manchester United.

Speaking to KingCasinoBonus, Saha said of his French compatriot: "I once heard Mbappe could be tempted by Man Utd but I only see him at Real Madrid.

"I heard that Kylian Mbappe could be tempted by Man United! I understand why Gael said City, though!

"It would be very exciting to see Mbappe in the Premier League, and I'd agree with Gael when he says City landing him would be game over. He'd guarantee at least 30 goals and at least 15 assists every league season.

"He's a very clever player, too. I think that Manchester United would be a great decision for him as it'd be a bigger challenge than the other clubs he's linked to.

"However, I think Real Madrid will be his next destination. Every Premier League, regardless of who they support, would want him! Even if he plays for a rival."

  • Rowe, Rowe your boat..gently down the Toon

Arsenal ace Emile Smith Rowe has been targeted by Newcastle after being largely left out by Mikel Arteta this season.

The Englishman has fallen down the pecking order after the arrival of Kai Havertz, with Fabio Vieira also seemingly ahead of him.

It means an exit is on the cards and Newcastle are ready to ramp up their interest, according to the Mirror.

Eddie Howe is a big fan of the 23-year-old and could offer him an escape route and a chance to revitalise his career.

Smith Rowe has started just once this season, against Brentford in the Carabao Cup, while making just two very brief appearances off the bench in the Premier League.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe plans to appoint a new sporting director if his bid to buy a minority stake in Manchester United is successful, talkSPORT understands.

Paul Mitchell, who has previously performed the role at Southampton and Tottenham, is among the names being considered after leaving Monaco.

Ratcliffe's proposal would give him overall control of football matters at United despite only purchasing a 25 per cent share.

  • Old Trafford expansion

Ineos will reportedly explore the possibility of increasing Old Trafford's capacity should Sir Jim Ratcliffe be successful in buying 25 per cent of Manchester United.

The Times reports that the need to expand and upgrade Old Trafford have been a significant part of negotiations between Ratcliffe and the Glazers, the club's current owners.

Ineos will then explore the possibility of expanding Man United's Old Trafford to 90,000, which would put it on par with Wembley.

Ratcliffe will likely hear on Thursday whether he has been successful in acquiring 25 per cent of the club for £1.3billion.

The route became clear to own a minority stake after Sheikh Jassim withdrew his world record bid for full control of the club.

  • Spain for Sancho?

Barcelona have been contacted by Jadon Sancho's team to explain his situation at Manchester United, according to Sport.

The Spanish giants are unlikely to make a move this January unless they sell any key players.

But they are expected to possibly make an approach for Sancho in the summer if his troubles at Man United are still not resolved.

  • McTomi-stay

Manchester United will not be selling Scott McTominay in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Star.

The Red Devils were looking to get rid of McTominay all summer, however, he remained at the club past the deadline.

The midfielder has worked his way back into the squad, scoring two late goals to secure a stunning comeback win for United against Brentford last time out.

Erik ten Hag will now continue to utilise the Scotland international throughout the remainder of the campaign.

Sources close to Sheikh Jassim have confirmed he has withdrawn his world-record offer for the Old Trafford giants after failing to agree a deal with the Glazer family.

That clears the way for British billionaire and boyhood United fan, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, to press ahead with his bid to buy a minority stake in the club.

Ratcliffe is believed to be ready to offer to purchase 25 per cent of the Glazer's share with a view to eventually becoming United"s majority owner.

However, Joel and Avram Glazer have always been reluctant to enter into a full sale.

  • Onana back to Inter?

Inter Milan's chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has refused to rule out the possibility of Andre Onana returning to the club.

Onana left Italy to join Manchester United this summer but his start to life at Old Trafford hasn't gone as planned.

This had already led to questions being asked about the goalkeeper's future, with Marotta asked about a potential comeback.

He told Gazzetta Dello Sport: "I can't predict the future, but in football, anything can happen.

"For sure, it was a great chapter for Onana and for us. It was also a successful deal to sign him for free and sell for that money."
