Kalvin Phillips could reportedly be the subject of interest from Juventus and Newcastle as a result of the betting scandal in Italy.
talkSPORT understands that Newcastle fear Sandro Tonali could face a lengthy suspension amid his alleged role in illegal betting, with the club confirming he is being investigated.
Meanwhile Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli has been banned for seven months by the Italian Football Federation due to a breach of rules.
As a result, The Telegraph report that both clubs could enter the January transfer market for a replacement, with Phillips an option.
The 27-year-old has struggled for minutes at City since he signed from Leeds in 2022 and will 'consider' a move away.
Phillips has made 26 appearances in total under Pep Guardiola - starting just five times for the Citizens.

However he did start from the off in England's 3-1 Euro 2024 qualifying win against Italy on Tuesday night, receiving praise from boss Gareth Southgate.
After the game, the midfielder admitted he needs more game time as he said: “I know that I need to be playing games and competing every weekend.
"I’m going to have to make a decision on my City future over the next months. Hopefully my chance comes, but if it doesn’t then I will have to make other decisions.
“As a football player you always want to be playing. I want to be playing as much as possible, but I haven’t done that for a year and a half.

"I always try to make sure I am ready for whatever comes. I want minutes, I want to go to the Euros. We will see what happens.”
Phillips earned his move to City following his impressive performances for former club Leeds, signing a six-year deal at the Etihad.
Despite his quality, the presence of Rodri and John Stones' switch into midfield have seen him become somewhat of a peripheral figure.
As well as Newcastle, Tottenham could also emerge as an interested side in January should Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg depart, with the club's technical director Johan Lange a 'big fan' of Phillips.
