Joao Palhinha has been slammed by Fulham fans for his 'petulance' following his failed move to Bayern Munich on deadline day.

The 28-year-old completed a medical in Germany ahead of a transfer on Friday, only for the Cottagers to fail to sanction his departure.

It is understood that Fuham denied him a move in the end to the Allianz Arena as they couldn't find a suitable replacement in time before the window closed at 11pm.

With the player clearly not in the right frame of mind, boss Marco Silva omitted him from his matchday squad to face Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday.

Meanwhile the ex-Sporting Lisbon star has removed 'Fulham' from his Instagram bio, while also changing his profile picture to him wearing a Portugal shirt.

This was swiftly picked up by eagle-eyed Cottagers supporters, who aimed a dig at the player over the subtle change.

One fan tweeted: "Palhinha changing his Instagram picture/bio is pretty childish but mostly perplexing to me, what does it actually achieve apart from making him look petulant?

"It’s not like people won’t understand his disappointment & he surely best to maintain his image if he wants a Jan move?"

Another posted: "Joao Palhinha removing Fulham from his Instagram bio and changing his PP to him in a Portugal kit is so childish and unprofessional.

"Big player but can’t believe he’s acting so childish. What a shame."
