Darts legend Phil Taylor may consider crossing over into another sport following his retirement.

The Stoke-born star called time on playing professional darts in 2018, bringing an end to an illustrious career that saw him win a record 16 World Champions and a record 85 major titles.

He did return to play at the 2022 World Seniors Darts Championship, though, and has spent the past two years on the Senior Darts Tour.

However, this week, the 63-year-old announced the official finale of his career will come at the World Masters in Sunderland next November.

Taylor joined talkSPORT Breakfast to discuss his announcement and, first of all, Gabby Agbonlahor asked whether ITV's 'I'm A Celebrity' is a natural next step.

The darts legend said: "Yeah I'd love to do the jungle! It's a challenge, it's something I've never done, yeah I'd do it if they ask me to!"

Breakfast co-host Alan Brazil jokingly asked if he could still do it with his 'dodgy hip', to which Taylor replied: "I'll get it replaced!"

But it turns out 'I'm A Celeb' isn't the only post-darts career move Taylor would consider, as he teased a potential new role in another sport.

When asked by Brazil if he still supports Port Vale, Taylor said: "I am a Port Vale fan! I do look at the Stoke results and I do like them to win.

"I like all of Stoke, Crewe [Alexandra] and Vale to win, if they can. I have a little bet on each Saturday, it doesn't get paid out very often! But I am a Port Vale fan, yeah, I was only about half a mile from the ground as a boy.

"My dad was a fan, he used to take me down in them days, lift me over the turnstile because we couldn't afford pay and then I carried on as being a fan of them, yeah!"

He's not the only celebrity to root for the League One side - with pop star Robbie Williams being a fan of Vale too.

Robbie Williams stuns Tottenham fans by singing their version of megahit 'Angels' which hails manager Ange Postecoglou

Football-mad Robbie, who stars in a recently-released Netflix docuseries about his life, has previously spoken about investing in Vale.

Taylor was asked if he would be interested in joining the superstar singer...

"I'm friends with Robbie, he's not mentioned anything [about investing with him], but if he does ask me then I'd probably consider it yeah!" he said, before joking: "I might actually even get a game... with a dodgy hip!"

Fellow darts star 20-year-old Owen Bates also had talkSPORT presenters in fits earlier this month, with Ally McCoist in particular being beside himself after discovering his banned nickname.

Now, Bates is on the hunt for a new one ahead of next month's PDC World Darts Championships - and Taylor has given the Exeter arrowman a brilliant suggestion.

"Oh yes," he said. "How about Psycho? From the Bates Hotel?"

Psycho may have been filmed 42 years before Bates was born, but hopefully he knows the iconic character well, Taylor!

Either way, The Power confirmed he'd be there for the competition's final.
