Mark Wood has proved it's not just the British public that have been caught up in Barbie fever as he brilliantly pranked England captain Ben Stokes.

The fast bowler was looking to raise the spirits ahead of the start of the fifth and final Ashes Test match against Australia on Thursday.

England were cruelly denied a fourth Test win to level up the series at 2-2 after the fifth day at Old Trafford was called off due to rain.

It means that the visitors have retained the Ashes, with England now hoping to stop Australia from winning their first series in the UK since 2001.

But despite a disappointing end to the fourth Test, Wood remains in a positive mood - as shown by his antics in Stokes' press conference.

The 33-year-old interrupted the presser by playing Aqua's smash hit 'Barbie Girl' over the speakers as England's press officer began addressing the room.

It was a perfect choice from Wood, with a movie based on the iconic fashion doll currently the highest-grossing film in the cinema.

The song gradually began to play louder, leading Stokes to look up to the culprit in the balcony, with Wood having a huge smile on his face.

Wood's high jinks looked to be over, only for him to blare out The Imperial March - Darth Vader's theme tune from Star Wars.

This time, Stokes couldn't help but be reduced to laughter, with reporters also left in stitches.

Stokes was then asked what Wood brings to the team - other than messing around with the sound system.

To which he said: "He brings just amazing energy to the group. He's a very, very funny man.

"Always bouncing around and he's someone who will just keep going and going and going.

"Even if he is sore, tired, whatever he is, he will throw everything he has at the opposition whenever I throw him the ball.

"He's great to have to have around the team, and even when he is not playing, he offers so much to the group.

"He's just a really, really, really good team man and obviously his skill set with the ball is something that every team wants."
