BBC make major decision to ‘rest’ Top Gear after Freddie Flintoff crash
Top Gear will not return 'for the foreseeable future' following Freddie Flintoff's crash, the BBC have confirmed.
The 45-year-old was involved in the horrific incident in December 2022 at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey.
In the aftermath, the BBC revealed it would immediately pause production on the show, which is co-presented by Paddy McGuinness and automotive journalist Chris Harris.
Former England cricket captain Flintoff negotiated a £9million settlement and is still recovering from his injuries.
In a statement, the BBC said: "Given the exceptional circumstances, the BBC has decided to rest the UK show for the foreseeable future.
'"The BBC remains committed to Freddie, Chris, and Paddy, who have been at the heart of the show's renaissance since 2019, and we're excited about new projects being developed with each of them.

"We will have more to say in the near future on this. We know resting the show will be disappointing news for fans, but it is the right thing to do.
"All other Top Gear activity remains unaffected by this hiatus including international formats, digital, magazines and licensing."
A health and safety review took place involving a third party, with the findings not published.
After the incident, Flintoff returned to the England cricket set up briefly as a coach in September.

It was announced earlier this month that he has been appointed as coach of the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred.
Flintoff retired from cricket in 2009 and played in 79 Tests, 141 one-day internationals, and seven T20s.
He joined Top Gear as a host alongside McGuinness and Harris in 2019.
The famed BBC One show's recent 34th edition managed an average viewing of 4.5 million.
