Real Madrid release official statement to address Kylian Mbappe transfer rumours

Real Madrid have categorically denied that they are in talks over a stunning move to snap up Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward is set to depart Les Parisiens next summer having so far refused to pen a contract extension.

Speaking in June, the 2018 World Cup winner all-but confirmed this season would be his last with the French giants.

It led to the 24-year-old to be barred from training at the start of the campaign amid his stand-off, though he has since been reintegrated back into the team.

With the ex-Monaco star seemingly set to be on his way out, a move to Real seems to be the obvious destination, especially considering the LaLiga outfit's rejected offers for him in 2021.

Mbappe is free to speak to clubs outside of France in January, with Spanish news outlet El Chiringuito claiming on Saturday that Los Blancos have the No10 shirt ready for him.

That number currently belongs to midfielder Luka Modric, but the Croatian - like Mbappe - is in the final year of his deal.

Real have since acted swiftly to deny that any negotiations between the club and the player have taken place.

In an official statement posted on their website, Real said: "Given the information recently issued and published by different media outlets, in which there is speculation about alleged negotiations between the player Kylian Mbappe and our club.

"Real Madrid CF would like to state that this information is completely false and that no such negotiations have taken place with a player who belongs to PSG."

Despite being left out of PSG's squad for their opening match of the campaign, Mbappe has been in fine form since being recalled to the line-up.

He has chipped in with 12 goals and one assist from 13 matches in all competitions, where he is the Ligue 1 top scorer with ten strikes.
