He was named the fifth highest-paid athlete in the world in 2023, sitting behind LeBron James, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo

In 2018, Canelo signed one of the biggest contracts in sports history as he agreed to a five-year deal with Golden Boy and DAZN that would see him make a total of £365m.

However, after only making a reported £50m from his first two fights, he decided to exit the contract and file a lawsuit against his promoter and broadcaster.

He has had many huge paydays, reportedly making almost £70m from his first two fights against rival Gennady Golovkin

He was also claimed to have made at least £40m for his most recent bout against Jermell Charlo in September.
