Shakur Stevenson explains why he left Oleksandr Usyk and Canelo out of his pound-for-pound list

Shakur Stevenson included Tyson Fury on his pound-for-pound list, but there was no space for Oleksandr Usyk.

The American listed his own most skilled boxers in the world in an interview, which was essentially - in his opinion - a pound-for-pound list.

He put himself first, unsurprising for a man of his confidence, and he was followed by Terence 'Bud' Crawford, Naoya Inoue, Gervonta Davis and Tyson Fury.

Speaking to talkSPORT's Gareth A Davies, it was pointed out that fighters such as Canelo and Usyk do not feature, and Stevenson replied that it was simply a matter of taste.

"Usyk is a hell of a fighter, I can't take nothing away from him, but it's just my preference, I like all of them guys.

"One guy that I really missed on that list is Jaron 'Boots' Ennis, I like him a lot, too. I think that he's a hell of a fighter.

"It's all preference, though. If I missed Usyk or Canelo... it's just because that's my preference.

"At the end of the day you can't really make a real pound-for-pound list because it's preference to everybody."

Although Stevenson made it clear that the number one spot is not down to preference, adding: "Clearly 'Bud' is number one."

As for his own position on the list, Stevenson said: "I'm barely even chasing pound-for-pound, being on the pound-for-pound list, I'm barely chasing that, I wanna be number one.

"And until I'm number one I won't stop because when you're number one, they know you're number one."

In terms of his journey to that point, Stevenson wants fights against either Vasiliy Lomachenko or 'Tank' Davis next.

He described Davis as a 'special talent' and said a clash between him and 'Tank' would be the: "best fight in the sport of boxing that you can make right now."

But first, Stevenson will have to get past Edwin De Los Santos, whom he faces on November 16 in Las Vegas for the WBC lightweight world title.
