LeBron James smokes the Rockets with new ‘passing the blunt’ Lakers victory celebration

LeBron James has a new celebration.

During the Los Angeles Lakers' 105-104 victory against the Houston Rockets on Sunday, 'The King' debuted a new NSFW gesture that has gone viral on social media.

In the second quarter of the Rockets matchup, James could be seen walking over to teammate Christian Wood before handing him an imaginary joint.

LeBron also did the same gesture later on in the game. Footage captured him walking over to Anthony Davis before pulling out some imaginary weed, rolling it and passing it over to Davis to smoke.

It's unclear why LeBron performed the gesture, or if there's some hidden meaning to it within the Lakers locker room that we don't know about yet.

LeBron is well known for having unique handshakes with pretty much every teammate he's ever had, and this appears to be the latest one.

"This man will never run out of unique handshakes," one fan on X, formerly Twitter, wrote.

"Honestly that’s a hella underrated part of Brons legacy. He’s killed it in the handshake department," another joked.

"He smoked the layup," a third added.

"Passing the wood to Wood," someone else replied.

"LeBlunt!" a fifth responded.

However, it's not the first time we've seen the celebration. New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers was seen doing it with teammate Sauce Gardner earlier this year.

Whatever LeBron was smoking - or not smoking - it seemed to work.

James had 37 points, six rebounds and eight assists in 40 minutes while AD had 27 points and 10 rebounds.

38-year-old LeBron is averaging 26.4 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.5 assists this season in what is his 21st in the NBA.

The Lakers, though, are yet to fully hit their stride.

They're 8-6 so far this season, good enough for 6th in the Western Conference. The Purple & Gold are also 3-0 in the NBA's new in-season tournament, which sees them sit atop West Group A.
