Romelu Lukaku scores FOUR first half goals as he overtakes Cristiano Ronaldo to become top scorer in Euro 2024 qualifying

Romelu Lukaku scored four goals in 37 minutes to finish the Euro 2024 qualifying campaign as top goalscorer.

The Belgian star went into their final clash with Azerbaijan with 10 goals to his name so far, level with Cristiano Ronaldo.

However with Ronaldo blanking for Portugal in their clash with Iceland, it means that Lukaku can claim the crown for himself.

The Chelsea forward, who is currently on loan with Roma, wasted little time against Azerbaijan by grabbing his first goal of the game just 17 minutes in.

He then went on to score another three goals in 20 minutes, meaning that he had four strikes to his name just 37 minutes into the clash.

On a night where Belgium ran out as 5-0 winners, it was an occasion that truly belonged to Lukaku.

Those strikes meant that Lukaku ended qualification with 14 goals to his name, four more than Ronaldo managed as Portugal finished qualifying with a 100 per cent record.

Not only that, but it means that Lukaku has now racked up 83 goals for his country, making him the third-highest goalscorer in European football history behind Ronaldo [127] and Ferenc Puskas, who is just one ahead of him with 84.
