MMA fighter Iury Silva paid a hefty price for trying to imitate UFC icon Jorge Masvidal.

The light heavyweight, who was making his professional debut, recently squared off against fellow newbie Xiko Loko at an Acesso MMA event in Fortaleza, Brazil.

However, his first octagon outing ended in a brutally quick knockout defeat.

Footage from the bout shows Silva sprinting at his opponent as soon as the fight begins before raising his leg and trying to land some form of flying attack.

Unfortunately, for him, Loko saw it coming and he connected with a monstrous countershot that sent his rival crashing to the canvas in the opening moments of their fight.

Silva cracked his head hard on the floor before eating multiple follow-up punches that knocked him out cold and caused his arms to stiffen in a scary manner.

Thankfully, the referee saved him from eating too many unnecessary punches and medical staff were able to quickly enter the cage to help his recovery.

Meanwhile, Loko wildly celebrated his four-second knockout win.

Firstly, with those inside the venue, and later with his social media followers.

"Yesterday I had the pleasure of fighting this great event where I had the opportunity to do one of the main fights of the night,” Loko wrote alongside a video of his KO on Instagram.

“Fastest knockout in history [of] Acesso MMA. Knockout of the night.

“All honour and all glory be given to the Lord without him I am nothing.”

Masvidal made flying attacks from the opening bell a thing in 2019.

‘Gamebred’ was considered the underdog when he fought relentless wrestler Ben Askren at UFC 239 in Las Vegas – but he managed to finish their fight in just five seconds.

The recently retired former BMF champion cut an angle and charged at his opponent who dipped for a takedown only to be put unconscious by Masvidal's knee.

Four years later, 'Street Jesus' still holds the record for quickest KO in UFC history, and it seems highly unlikely that anyone will be able to better his feat in the near future.

One glance at Silva’s recent loss may convince some MMA fighters to stop trying flying attacks from the opening bell altogether - unless they are on Masvidal’s level.
