Francis Ngannou might have boxed his way into the WBC rankings following his performance against Tyson Fury.

On Saturday night, Fury beat former UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou by split decision.

But, it was an extremely impressive performance from Ngannou on his boxing debut, as he knocked Fury down in the third round, and many people believe he deserved to win.

As such, WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman has said Ngannou deserves to be ranked by the governing body.

He told Sky Sports: "What I personally witnessed last night is a solid boxer, who deserves to be ranked by the WBC.

"And I will make such recommendations to the ratings committee."

This comes after Ngannou's trainer Dewey Cooper already revealed that he spoke to Sulaiman in the ring after the fight.

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Cooper remarked: "Mauricio Sulaiman the president of WBC said he is going to rank him in the top ten because he is better than most of the heavyweights in the top ten.

"He said that in the ring, so absolutely you'll see him again."

If Ngannou is ranked in the top ten, it would mean that the Cameroonian would be alongside fighters such as Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua.

And he would be also ranked above Daniel Dubois, Filip Hrgovic and Joseph Parker among others.

It would also mean that should Ngannou and Fury fight in a rematch, 'The Gypsy King's' WBC world title, which was not on the line for the first fight, could be up for grabs.
