Conor McGregor has been temporarily banned from X - formerly known as Twitter – after getting a copyright claim from Akon.

On Monday evening, the former dual-weight UFC champion shared a voice note with his 10.2 million followers and it featured him singing one of Akon’s most famous songs.

McGregor swiftly deleted his version of ‘Locked Up’, which charted at no.5 in the UK when it was released almost 20 years ago, but not before the R&B singer got wind of his post.

The following day, ‘Notorious’ took to his Instagram story to reveal that his late-night karaoke session had gotten him into a spot of bother.

McGregor shared a screenshot showing he has been locked out of his X account after Akon - or someone from his team - filed a copyright claim.

It read: “Your account has been locked because X received a compliant Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA” notice for content posted to your X account).”

He captioned the since-deleted post: “Akon not happy hahaha.”

In a subsequent story, 'Mystic Mac' promised to release a ‘diss track’ in response and quickly delivered as he shared a video of him rapping at the Senegalese-American hitmaker.

"Akon, what’s wrong? I was only signing the song. It wasn’t even that long. You need to take a chill pill or a hit of the bong," McGregor began.

"Song’s out years, Donkey Kong. In the back of the ranch, they weren’t expecting me own little song. Little rapper from the flat, his name was Panch."

By this point, it became blatantly obvious McGregor was freestyling as the pauses between his bars became longer and had nothing to do with anything he'd previously said.

He added: "We used to be poor, but the Proper 12 come along and got us out the sewer.

“Not long, we like to spoil ourselves, Louis [Vuitton] off the shelf.

"New t***, new a***, new teeth - haters go to hell.”

The clip cuts out just as McGregor begins rapping about his famous whiskey again.

Fans didn’t get to hear the end of his song and he quickly took down the snippet he had already uploaded before many even knew it existed.

Akon is yet to react to the fact he’s found himself in an unlikely beef with one of the most ruthless knockout artists in combat sports.

If McGregor’s UFC comeback doesn’t work out, the Irishman may have a future in the entertainment business after showing off his acting and singing skills in 2023.
