New footage seemingly shows the moment Liam Smith twisted both ankles during his defeat to Chris Eubank Jr on Saturday night.

On Monday, Sky Sports Boxing shared a video that focused on Smith’s feet and showed him awkwardly rolling his left ankle before immediately doing the same thing to his right ankle.

‘Beefy’ was hoping to make it two wins on the bounce against Eubank Jr after knocking him out inside four rounds at the AO Arena in Manchester earlier this year.

However, the 35-year-old struggled from the first bell and was dropped twice before being stopped on his feet in the tenth round of their rematch.

Many people, including former WBC cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew, speculated about Smith suffering an ankle injury during the fight, but he played down injury concerns.

The popular Liverpudlian believes his below-par performance was due to the fact he started camp three stone overweight due to a back injury.

“I was just flat from the start,” Smith said post-fight.

“The weight killed me a little bit after the injury. I was just flat from the get-go and Chris was sharp, that’s all I can say about it really.”

Smith alluded to a potential foot injury but was quick to give props to his opponent who delivered what was arguably the best performance of his career.

“I couldn’t move my feet and when I did move my feet back, I rolled my ankle,” he added.

“I’ve got dodgy ankles anyway, it was just f***ing one of them things.”

"Chris was the better man tonight. I shout when I win, I’ll take my defeat when I lose.”

Smith is yet to comment on his fighting future, but former super middleweight champion Carl Froch thinks he should call it a day following a fourth professional defeat.

Meanwhile, Eubank Jr is looking forward to world titles and big fights.

Conor Benn, who was sitting at ringside to watch Smith vs Eubank Jr II, is currently gearing up for a comeback after being sidelined since April 2022.

The 26-year-old was supposed to face Eubank Jr last October, but he failed two drug tests, and their pay-per-view clash was called off at the eleventh hour.

Benn has recently been plotting his return to the ring and Eubank Jr could be a potential option if he is fully cleared to fight again.

First, he’s hoping to box Ivan Redkach on September 23.
