Liverpool 2-0 Everton LIVE: Salah double helps Reds overcome stubborn ten-man Toffees to take top spot

Liverpool secured a 2-0 win over Everton in the Merseyside derby at Anfield to take spot in the Premier League.

Mohamed Salah scored a second-half double to seal the win against ten-man Everton.

Ashley Young was sent off in the first half for two bookable offences, but Ibrahima Konate got away with one as well.

After that, Salah scored from the spot before adding a very late second on the counter.

    Jurgen Klopp admitted that Ibrahima Konate could have been sent off against Everton and has sympathy for Sean Dyche.

    He said: "I understand it.

    "It's really hard to accept these things, but in time, you get over it."

    Liverpool boss was pleased his side got the win but admitted that Ibrahima Konate could have been sent off.

    Speaking to TNT Sports, he said: "Well deserved.

    "It was a difficult game with lots of emotions involved. A red card, maybe a second yellow for us.

    "In the first half, we had three big opportunities, which didn't even end up in a shot.

    "The red card changed the game and we didn't use it to our advantage.

    "But we kept them away from our goal.

    "We are then lucky with Ibou [Konate]."

    Sean Dyche was left stunned by Ibrahima Konate staying on the pitch.

    Speaking to TNT Sports, he said: "At 0-0, I don't know why anyone in the stadium knows why they were still at 11 v 10.

    "The manager certainly didn't because he took the player off straightaway because he realised he should have been off anyway.

    "[It] changed the game, but it's the way it goes.

    "I don't know how I got yellow-carded. My staff all got yellow-carded.

    "How is it possible we could get yellow-carded with that performance [from the referee]."

    Ibrahima Konate was booked for hauling Onana to the floor, and he was very fortunate to get away with one.

    Calvert-Lewin ran off the back of him and the centre-back tripped him, it was a yellow card, and he should have been sent off.
