  • Cold Trafford

The crisis facing Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag could be traced all the way back to pre-season.

Ten Hag is coming under mounting pressure after overseeing a dismal run of eight defeats from the fallen Old Trafford giants’ first 15 games in all competitions.

Whispers Ten Hag is battling to win back the faith of a shell-shocked
dressing room only grew louder after the EFL Cup holders were dumped out by Newcastle’s reserves on Wednesday.

Sources have told talkSPORT several United stars were left unimpressed by the lack of downtime afforded by ten Hag during their summer tour of the USA, leading to the first cracks in the manager-player relationship beginning to show.

  • (west) London calling

Chelsea are willing to play the long game to sign Aaron Ramsdale, talkSPORT's Alex Crook has revealed in his latest transfer notebook.

England goalkeeper Ramsdale is emerging as a top target for Mauricio Pochettino after losing his status as Arsenal number one.

The Blues know prising £50m rated Ramsdale away from their London rivals mid-season could be challenging, but are ready to push hard for his signature next summer.

As this notebook previously reported, Ramsdale is reluctant to make any rash decisions over his future, however it is becoming increasingly clear he will struggle to win his place back from David Raya.

Newcastle is another potential escape route for Ramsdale after being signed by Eddie Howe from Sheffield United for Bournemouth.

  • Talk of the Toon

Newcastle are reportedly planning further moves in the Saudi Arabia market following Sandro Tonali's lengthy betting ban.

The Magpies are interested in Gabri Veiga, who joined Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli from Celta Vigo in the summer, report Fichajes.

The 21-year-old Spanish midfielder was one of the most highly coveted players in European football before he made the shock switch to the Middle East.

Newcastle are also keeping tabs on former Wolves captain Ruben Neves, who is now at Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal.

Luis Suarez is set to join Inter Miami in 2024, according to reports.

El Pais claim the Uruguayan will reunite with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba next year.

The former Liverpool star was linked with a switch to Inter Miami last summer but remained at Brazilian club Gremio.

The 36-year-old has since confirmed he would leave Gremio in December when the Brazilian football season comes to an end.

  • Out of Ten

Erik ten Hag promised he was a 'fighter' after Manchester United slumped to a 3-0 Carabao Cup home defeat to Newcastle to pile more pressure on him.

Defeat in the rematch of last season's final - which United won to highlight a promising first season in charge for the Dutchman - meant United have lost eight of their opening 15 fixtures in all competitions this term, their worst start since the 1962-63 campaign.

"I am a fighter and I know it is not always going up," he said.

"We have a lot of setbacks this season so far, but also you have to deal with it and that is never an excuse.

"I have said that before I know when there are setbacks the routines are not the same, but even then you have to get results in. Obviously, Sunday and tonight were far from that so we have to do things right and at a certain level, at the minimum level to win games."

  • Costa lot of money

Manchester United are reportedly continuing to send scouts to watch Portugal keeper Diogo Costa.

The Red Devils were linked with a move to sign the 24-year-old before landing on Cameroon international Andre Onana.

But Portuguese outlet A Bola report that Costa will only leave Porto if United pay his £65m release clause.

  • Brentford determined to block January Toney sale

Brentford are determined to resist any January offers for Ivan Toney, talkSPORT understands.

The Bees will also demand at least £80million for Toney come the summer transfer window, even though by then, he will only have a year to run on his current contract.

Arsenal and Chelsea are both tracking Toney's situation.

Toney is back in training with Brentford, who ideally want to tie him down to a contract extension, ahead of his betting ban coming to an end in mid-January.

  • Brutal assessment

Neil Warnock has told talkSPORT that he wouldn't have some of Manchester United's expensive flops in his Huddersfield Town team.

The veteran coach also said he thought Erik ten Hag was the answer when he was appointed, but the lack of progress at Old Trafford has made him think that maybe it was a false dawn.

Warnock joined Alan Brazil and Ally McCoist on talkSPORT Breakfast this morning and admitted he can't see the Dutch coach going the distance...

  • Razing the roof

Arsenal and Chelsea are battling to sign Shamrock Rovers teenager Naj Razi, according to The Sun.

Razi has been playing regularly for the Irish side this season as well as starring for Ireland's U17s at the Euros.

And he is attracting interest from the Premier League already, with the London rivals competing for his signature.

European giants Real Madrid are also said to be keeping an eye on his situation with the youngster set for a huge move.

  • 'If you boo Rice, you're a disgrace'

David Moyes thinks Declan Rice should be welcomed back to West Ham ‘with open arms’ - but not everyone agrees.

The England regular will return to the London Stadium tonight in the Carabao Cup, but this time wearing the red and white of Arsenal.

Ahead of the game his old manager Moyes said: “He should be welcomed back with open arms. We’re all looking forward to seeing him again.”

Discussing the issue, talkSPORT host and former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy put his feet firmly in the ‘no booing’ camp.

“If you boo Declan Rice, you’re an absolute disgrace, you’re a disgrace to your club,” he said.

“What really is annoying me is they bigged him up ‘we want £110million’ yet when he left they all came crawling back saying ‘we’re a better team without him’ all of a sudden West Ham’s season is grinding to a halt.

“Here’s what I want to hear, West Ham fans calling up tonight and showing their appreciation for what he did at the football club, what he achieved and what he delivered.”

However, a Hammers fan called into talkSPORT to argue with Cundy and their debate can be read below...

  • Not over it

Inter Milan chief Piero Ausilio has slammed Romelu Lukaku for a lack of respect over his failed permanent return to the San Siro.

Lukaku looked close to sealing a transfer to Inter from Chelsea following a loan spell back at his former club, but the deal broke down in the summer.

He is now on loan at Serie A rivals Roma, and it appears Inter bosses are still not over Lukaku's behaviour - with accusations the striker ghosted his Inter teammates and club bosses as they tried to get a deal done.

Inter's sporting director Ausilio said: “Lukaku? Deals can collapse but respect should always be there.

“If someone disappears and doesn’t even answer to phone calls… that was unacceptable.

“The deal with Chelsea collapsed on July 8 after days and days trying to call him."

  • Pati-noooo!

Arsenal fans will not be happy to hear that Juventus are eyeing a move for young star Charlie Patino.

The Gunners supporters were stunned earlier this year after reports claimed that manager Mikel Arteta was open to selling him.

And now Patino is a target for Serie A giants Juve who, according to Calciomercato, have had a long-standing interest in the midfielder.

Patino is currently on loan at Swansea but Arsenal are said to be asking for a fee of £26million to let him go permanently.

  • Wan-Bissaka extension

Manchester United are reportedly set to trigger a one-year extension in Aaron Wan-Bissaka's contract.

The right-back's current deal runs out this summer but United are keen to keep him, according to The Mirror.

Wan-Bissaka has been in talks with the Red Devils over a new long-term contract but negotiations are stalling, with the club now opting to activate a 12-month option instead.

He is currently sidelined with a significant injury but the 25-year-old is a key member of Erik ten Hag's defence.

  • 'You can f*** off'

John Terry has revealed Jose Mourinho fired expletives at him and Gary Cahill before threatening to replace the former Chelsea captain with Raphael Varane.

Terry played under Mourinho during the Portuguese coach’s two spells in charge of the Blues, winning three Premier League titles together.

The incident occurred midway through a training session after Terry and his Chelsea teammates were instructed to do a drill.

However, the performance of the Blues' centre-back partnership left a lot to be desired, with Mourinho calling the pair out in front of the entire squad.

  • Get behind him

Mauricio Pochettino defended summer signing Nicolas Jackson after the misfiring Chelsea striker was criticised by supporters during the Blues' 2-0 home defeat to Brentford.

"We cannot abuse, even if you say 'wake up', because I think it's not right," Pochettino told a press conference on Tuesday.

"He suffered an injury (to his hand during the last international break), it's difficult to train, to keep fit and to score goals.

    "Nico (Jackson) needs support.

"He wants to help the team and for different reasons he's not performing. He played with a cast after he broke his hand.

"Fans can criticise us and they're frustrated but they need to analyse the situation.

"Jackson is young, he arrived this season and there are circumstances that didn't help him perform his best.

"You think we should throw him into the bin and say he's useless? We have to give the confidence.

"He's our striker, he's our player and it's about supporting the player."

  • Dortmund prepare for Sancho

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly ready to let one of their young stars go to free up space for Jadon Sancho.

The Bundesliga side look set to allow England winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens to leave on loan in January, according to 90min.

That move would then allow Dortmund to set up a potential return for Sancho who is still frozen out at Man United.

He is keen to move away from Old Trafford permanently but a loan switch is the most likely method to get out the door.

  • Osimhen priority

Chelsea have made Victor Osimhen their main target in their search for a striker, according to Calciomercato.

Mauricio Pochettino is keen to bring in a new No.9 and the Napoli star is reported to be top of his list.

Osimhen's contract at the Serie A champions runs out next summer and there has been no progress in talks over an extension.

The Blues would have to pay around £100million for the Nigerian but are hoping to use money from possibly offloading Romelu Lukaku to help fund the deal.

  • Nate the great

Nathan Jones is among the leading candidates to become Millwall's new manager, talkSPORT understands.

Jones has been out of work since being sacked by Southampton in January after only eight Premier League games in charge.

Millwall are looking for a new manager after parting company with Gary Rowett on October 19 amid a bad start to the season.

  • Inter him

Chelsea target Lautaro Martinez has said he is happy at Inter Milan following fresh links to Real Madrid.

"Obviously we are talking about a very important team [in Real Madrid], but my thoughts and my mind are always turned towards Inter," Martinez said at the Ballon D'Or ceremony.

  • Hazard lights

Former Chelsea star Eden Hazard has admitted he doesn't miss playing football after discussing his early retirement.

"It’s perfect. It’s perfect. I’m enjoying life and family in the kids," The 32-year-old said at the Balon D'Or ceremony. "I can do what I want and it’s a perfect life.

"Of course [I still watch football]. I have kids. They play football.

"I watch it on TV when I can. I do other things also but at the moment I don't miss playing football. Let's see in a few months."

  • Belle of the bell

Jude Bellingham did not sign for Manchester United because the club refused to promise him first-team football.

That is the view of Reds icon Rio Ferdinand, who told Vibe with Five: "Do you know what I heard it was… he [Bellingham] wanted some assurances about being a first-team player.

"And United weren’t willing to give him those assurances, that’s what I heard from a very good source.

"He wasn’t given assurances of being around the first team and he’s said, ‘do you know what, I know my worth, I know my value and if you don’t value me the way I see myself I’m going to have to jog on and go to another club’.

"He’s gone and done that and he’s turned round and gone, ‘I told you guys, you didn’t believe me did you?’.

"And he’s gone Real Madrid and he’s tearing down Real Madrid, he’s turning down the Bernabeu, they’ve just rebuilt it and he’s tearing it down! Unbelievable."

  • Devil you know

Mark Goldbridge days Manchester United are so broken, that not even Pep Guardiola could save them.

The United fan and YouTube star joined talkSPORT to have his say after Sunday's 3-0 defeat to City.

And he said things are so bad at Old Trafford that they need wholesale changes at every level of the club to get back on the right track.

Mark Goldbridge believes Manchester United are completely broken and not even Pep Guardiola could fix their issues
  • Once a Hammer, always a Hammer

David Moyes says Declan Rice should be welcomed back at the London Stadium tomorrow 'with open arms'.

It will be the first time Rice will have visited his former club since his summer move to London rivals Arsenal, when the Gunners play West Ham in the Carabao Cup fourth round.

"I hope he will be back, because you've got to remember this is the man who lifted the first European trophy in 50 years, so he should be welcomed back with open arms," said Moyes in his pre-match press conference today.

"We're all looking forward to seeing him again. He was a brilliant member of the team, led the team brilliantly well, conducted himself impeccably as a West Ham captain and as a player in his time here.

"I'm really looking forward to seeing Dec. I've not seen him since he left and I hope he does... well, I don't know if I hope he will play, but I hope he's there!"

  • No chance for Chelsea

Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham could be playing for Chelsea and they still wouldn't win the Premier League.

That is the view of talkSPORT host and ex-Blues midfielder Andy Townsend, who has insisted the duo wouldn't turn the club's fortunes around.

Fellow host Simon Jordan has tipped Chelsea to win the top-flight title within the next three years.

But it's an opinion not shared by his colleague Townsend, who believes the club can have two of the world's best players in Mbappe and Bellingham and still be nowhere near good enough.

  • Juve want Hojbjerg

Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is being considered as a possible signing for Juventus, according to Calciomercato.

Hojbjerg is reportedly available for transfer after losing his place in the starting line-up for Spurs under Ange Postecoglou.

And the Denmark international is an option for Juve who are on the lookout for a defensive midfielder.

The Serie A side are targeting a replacement for Nicolo Fagioli who has been suspended for his involvement in a betting scandal.
