Manchester United still without Christian Eriksen but handed Rasmus Hojlund boost in injury update

Erik ten Hag has revealed that Christian Eriksen will miss Manchester United's trip to Everton but Rasmus Hojlund could be set to play.

Both players picked up injuries in the Premier League giants' 1-0 win over Luton Town in their final game before the international break.

Eriksen was forced off on the approach to half-time, whereas Hojlund had to be substituted in the latter stages of the victory.

United return to action on Sunday when they travel to Everton, with boss Erik ten Hag providing an update on the injured duo.

"Christian will take a little bit longer," Ten Hag told the Premier League in regards to Eriksen. "It will take some weeks until he will return."

As for Hojlund, he said: "Not too bad. Everton will be a close finish but we're working on that.

"We're not sure if he can make that but, hopefully, in the next week, he will return to the squad."

United have endured a fluctuating season thus far but have won four of their last five Premier League matches.

Form across all competitions is a cause for concern though, with Ten Hag's side losing three of their last five.

Sunday's clash against Everton will be far from easy, with the home crowd at Goodison Park set to be loud in their protests against their ten-point deduction.

A must-win match away at Galatasaray follows three days later, with United currently bottom of their Champions League group.

Eriksen will be unavailable for the trip to Turkey but it could be the tie in which Hojlund makes a full return to action.

All of the goals he has scored for United since signing in the summer have come in the Champions League, with the Dane netting five.
