William Saliba hilariously mistook a former Arsenal star for Everton boss Sean Dyche during a challenge to identify ex-Gunners stars.

The French defender has been in superb form for Mikel Arteta’s side and netted his first goal of the season in the 3-1 victory over Burnley a fortnight ago.

But it appears that his knowledge of Arsenal's past stars does not match up to his on-field talents, after he was handed pictures of former players that donned the famous red shirt.

His quest was to identify as many as possible and, whilst he struggled to identify some of Arsenal’s former heroes, Saliba’s reference to the Everton boss even had himself in stitches.

Saliba guessed correctly for Alex Song, Gervinho, Yaya Sanogo and Andrey Arshavin, but stumbled when tasked with identifying Denilson, Manuel Almunia and Eduardo.

However, the centre-back saved the best for last when a photo of former defender Philippe Senderos appeared.

Saliba squinted as he looked at the screen before uttering: “Is that the coach of Everton?”

After promptly being told his answer was incorrect, the 22-year-old burst into laughter knowing he had made a hilarious but rare error.

Saliba has become a fan-favourite at the Emirates since his integration into the starting eleven at the beginning of the 2022/23 season.

The France star was a key figure as the Gunners’ ran Manchester City to the wire in last season’s title race.

A back injury picked up in a Europa League tie against Sporting Lisbon in March ruled him out of key games in the title race which many fans believe was a defining moment in the Gunners' season.

But it has been business as usual this season for Saliba who has played every minute of Arsenal’s Premier League’s matches and featured in all four of the club’s Champions League ties.
