Manchester City and Tottenham warned their stars could be next if Mohamed Salah moves to Saudi Arabia

A move to Saudi Arabia for Mohamed Salah could see some of the Premier League's other stars follow suit.

Liverpool rejected a whopping £150million offer from Al Ittihad on Friday for their Egyptian winger.

Saudi Pro League clubs have spent much of the summer signing some of the best talent that European football has to offer.

talkSPORT understands that Al Ittihad are willing to offer even more money for Salah and with their transfer window still open until September 7, a move could still happen.

The 31-year-old could earn as much as Cristiano Ronaldo does at Al Nassr, and it's a potential transfer that could have a knock-on effect in the Premier League.

Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast, sports broadcaster Ben Jacobs explained the transfer strategy from Saudi clubs. He said: "It isn't a case of taking a swing in the dark or dumping a load of money down for big names.

"The recruitment strategy has been already put in place as you would expect like any football club, they're planning windows ahead. So 2024 won't be waking up once the window opens and deciding who might be available, it's already being started now.

"That's what you have to do, developing relationships on the players' side which is why Salah has been approached all summer because then when you come calling you've got a better chance of success."

Jacobs also warned that Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne and Tottenham's Heung-min Son could emerge as future targets.

"De Bruyne is a possibility, Son is a possibility, Salah will be a possibility again if he doesn't join in the next few days or so.

"No doubt there will be a few other surprise names that are younger, Gabri Veiga was one of them at the back-end of this window, that might be pursued.

"So this is a very considered strategy that feels like it's all about money, feels like it's all about statement and feels very fast-moving.

"It will slow down in the next two windows but I think that the Saudi Pro League feels like it's here to stay and European leagues are going to have to find a way of coming to terms with that."

Al Ittihad are expected to make another move for Salah next summer if he does not join in the coming days.

The forward has scored 187 goals in 308 appearances for Liverpool and has cemented himself as a club legend.

However, Salah could be set to be the first big game from the Premier League to complete a switch to Saudi Arabia.
